Packaging Tips

Proper packaging ensures your items arrive safely. Follow these guidelines to protect your hardware during transit.

Royal Mail size limit — important

Your parcel must not exceed:

  • Length: 45 cm
  • Width: 35 cm
  • Depth: 16 cm

Anything larger may be refused or returned by Royal Mail at the depot. For most CPU/RAM orders a small box (e.g. a Royal Mail Small Parcel-sized box) is more than enough — no need to use anything bigger.

Wrap Each Processor Individually

Wrap each processor individually in kitchen roll or paper towels for protection. If you have anti-static (silver ESD) pouches available, those work well too — but they are not strictly necessary. The key is to prevent direct contact between processors.

Free CPU Trays for Bulk Sellers

Selling 21 or more processors? We can provide you with professional plastic CPU trays free of charge. Each tray holds 21 CPUs, offering excellent protection and significantly reducing your packaging effort. Contact us to arrange delivery of trays before you ship.

Choose the Right Box

Use a sturdy cardboard box that fits within Royal Mail’s size limit (max 45 × 35 × 16 cm). Place padding (crumpled paper, bubble wrap, or foam) in the bottom of the box first, then position the wrapped processors in the centre. Avoid placing items against the edges of the box, as they are most vulnerable to impact damage there.

Fill Any Gaps

Once your items are positioned centrally, fill the remaining space with additional padding material. The contents should not shift when you gently shake the box. Seal the box securely with packing tape and attach your prepaid shipping label (Royal Mail or DHL) on the outside.

For RAM Modules

RAM sticks are more fragile than CPUs. If possible, keep them in their original packaging. Otherwise, wrap each stick individually in anti-static material or kitchen roll, and ensure they cannot flex or snap during transit.
